A Mother’s Journey of Faith, Hope, and Unconditional Love
Have you ever laid awake at night wondering where you went wrong?
Perhaps your son or daughter once walked closely with the Lord. Maybe they grew up in church, attended Bible studies, and professed faith in Christ. Then one day, seemingly without warning, they began drifting away. Sometimes that drift leads into the world. Other times it leads into a religious group that promises certainty, answers, and belonging but ultimately pulls them away from the truth of the gospel. For many parents, the pain can be overwhelming.
Questions begin to flood the mind:
- “Did I fail as a parent?”
- “Should I have taught them differently?”
- “What if they never come back?”
- “Will I ever see my child walking with Jesus again?”
- If you’ve asked those questions, you are not alone.
In this powerful VOICE interview, Deb shares her deeply personal journey as a mother whose daughter once professed faith in Christ but later chose to become a Jehovah’s Witness. Like many parents of prodigals, Deb experienced heartbreak, confusion, disappointment, and seasons of discouragement. She watched someone she loved embrace teachings that contradicted the biblical gospel and wondered what the future might hold. Yet this story is not ultimately about loss. It is a story about God’s faithfulness.
As Deb shares her journey, you’ll hear how the Lord met her in the midst of her pain. Rather than allowing bitterness, fear, or guilt to consume her, God used this difficult season to draw her closer to Himself. Through prayer, Scripture, and dependence upon Christ, Deb discovered that while she could not control her daughter’s choices, she could trust the One who loves her daughter even more than she does. Well, no more! Listen and be encouraged! Be inspired!
One of the greatest lessons many parents of prodigals learn is that salvation has never depended upon our ability to be perfect parents. Every parent makes mistakes. Every family has regrets. Yet our hope has never been in our performance but in the grace and mercy of God. Throughout Scripture we see examples of God pursuing those who wandered:
The shepherd leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one lost sheep. The father waits and watches for the return of the prodigal son. Jesus reminds us that with God all things are possible. No one is beyond the reach of His grace. For parents whose loved ones have become Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, or involved in other high-control religious groups, the waiting can be especially difficult. These organizations often create barriers between members and family relationships, making conversations about faith challenging and emotionally exhausting. Yet countless former Jehovah’s Witnesses have testified that God continued working in their hearts long after family members thought all hope was gone.
Many former Witnesses point back to a praying parent, a faithful friend, a loving spouse, or a Christian who never gave up on them. That is why Deb’s story matters. Her testimony reminds us that our role is not to save our children. Only Christ can do that. Our role is to remain faithful, continue loving them, continue praying for them, and trust God with what we cannot control. If your heart is hurting today because of a prodigal child, let Deb’s story encourage you.
Do not give up.
Do not stop praying.
Do not lose hope.
The same God who pursued you is still pursuing your son or daughter. Take a few moments to listen to this inspiring interview and hear how God carried Deb through one of the most difficult seasons of her life. You may discover that the encouragement you’ve been praying for is found in her story.
“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11
Listen and be encouraged. Listen and be inspired. Most of all, remember that God is still at work, even when you cannot see it. Do you have a prodigal son or daughter? As a parent of a prodigal child are there times you have felt guilty or said “It’s my fault, I should of done a better job!” Are you at a place where you are losing hope for your child(ren) and wonder if they will ever turn back to Jesus?
Hear a mother’s heart of unconditional love for her daughter who once walked with Jesus and decided to take the path of becoming a Jehovah’s Witness. Hear Deb’s personal journey and how she has drawn closer to her Rock and Comforter Jesus Christ.
Don’t lose hope!
