Episode 3: Two Minutes with the Truth – Joel B Groat

Let’s face it, you don’t want to be fooled and neither do I.  But with so many voices claiming to have spiritual truth how can we protect ourselves from being led astray?  We must know and trust the Bible as God’s only source for spiritual truth.  Listen to these words from the Apostle Paul found in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

We can trust Scripture because it is truth that God has breathed out. Through his prophets, apostles and through his Son Jesus, God has given us His Word, and it is only this truth that is profitable for teaching us, for correcting us and for training us in righteous living.

Any true man of God will understand this, and they will be careful to base their teaching on the truth of Scripture. They will not preach their own ideas, or claim to have new truth not found in the Bible. So the next time someone claims to be a spiritual teacher ask yourself – is this person teaching me from Scripture?  We can protect ourselves from being fooled by carefully comparing what they teach with the Bible.  Take some time today to read and study the Scripture breathed out by God himself, the truth that can set you free.
