10. I am a former Jehovah's Witness or Mormon who is looking for someone to help me deal with my experience. Is there anyone you can refer me to?

If you're a Jehovah's Witness or Latter-day Saint who is thinking about leaving or has already left your religion, you are not alone. Our email ministry team volunteers are former Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons who understand what you are going through and are committed to lending spiritual and emotional support as you work through the perplexing questions of life after your experience in these religions.

If you're looking for a support group that is more one-on-one and private than on-line chat rooms available on the internet, then our email support network is for you! We are devoted to God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. We do not look to an earthly, man-made organization for spiritual truth and guidance but rest completely in the authority of God's Word, the Bible, and the guidance of His Holy Spirit.

If you have questions about God, the Bible, Christian churches, religion in general, or just need someone who understands what you're going through, please CLICK HERE to meet our Jehovah's Witness and LDS team volunteers.

We also encourage you to see our Welcome ex-Jehovah's Witness help page for resources on our website that may assist you with questions you may have.

11. Do you have literature available in languages other than English?

We have had several requests for material in foreign languages. Many of our Jehovah's Witness and Mormon brochures have been translated into the Spanish Language, and a few of our tracts on Jehovah's Witnesses have been translated into the Russian Language, but we have nothing else in any other language. To access our foreign language materials, click on the Spanish Material on JWs or Spanish Material on LDS menu links at the top of the webpage or click the quick link to the Spanish edition next to the English title on each webpage. If you or someone you know would be interested in helping us translate our materials into other languages (especially the Portuguese, German, French, Japanese and Chinese languages), please contact us in English. We also need people who have the software and ability to type their translation in the foreign language into MicroSoft Word documents that we can format back into the original tracts, brochure style of the English documents.

12. How can I have someone from Witnesses for Jesus speak at my church congregation or Bible study group?

Christy Darlington, the founder and President of Witnesses for Jesus, Inc., has developed a series of seminars on Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons that we offer to churches and home groups. These seminars are available in DVD format or on audio MP3 CDs that contain Microsoft PowerPoint slides and handouts. They are segmented into sections that can be presented in Church home groups and Sunday School Classes.

Although Christy Darlington is no longer available to travel out of state to present her seminars at your church or home Bible Study group, if your group is located in the Colorado Springs area, we can make arrangements to have a representative from Witnesses for Jesus, Inc (often a former Jehovah's Witness or former Mormon) share with your group on a love offering basis.

13. How Can I start a ministry to Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons in my area?

“Hi Christy! My husband and I have been wondering how to go about becoming counter-cult contact people in our area. There is a huge need, as I am sure you know. Another couple is interested in this idea, but none of us really knows how to get started. Can you give us any ideas?”

A. Become a Financial Support Partner

We praise the Lord that we obtained 501(c)3 non-profit status with the IRS in 2004. All donations to this ministry are tax-deductible. As with most ministries, finances present the greatest asset to ministry outreaches. If you feel led of the Lord to financially partner with our ministry, click the "Make a Donation" button (above) for more details. Your support of our ministry goes to support the following outreaches:

SENDING MATERIAL TO PEOPLE INTERESTED IN REACHING JWS AND LDS:

You support enables us to continue mailing our free English information packets to Christians who are reaching out to their Mormon and Jehovah's Witness friends and loved-ones. We also partner with Libraries of Hope (a prison ministry) to distribute our material free of charge to prison chaplains throughout the country.

ENHANCEMENT OF TRAINING MATERIALS AND WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

Your support enables us to continue to develop training materials in both the English and Spanish languages that we make available free of charge through our websites. Currently, our website receives approximately 1,134 visits per day from a total of 181 countries over the course of a year. 839 of these daily visitors are first time visitors to our websites with a 26% return rate. In 2008, pageviews on our websites totalled 1.4 million.

B. Participate in our Email Prayer Chain

Read Scripture verses to use in praying for your Jehovah's Witness and LDS (Mormon) Friends.

Ephesians 6:12 emphasizes that "...our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." In view of this, we have developed an email prayer support team through our website that enables you to submit prayer requests for your Jehovah's Witness and Mormon friends and relatives and to intercede for others who are likewise dealing with the same issues.

To participate in our prayer chain, send a short email to us with the words "prayer team" in the subject line of your email. You must include:

1. Your First and Last Name
2. Email Address
3. JW or LDS Specific Prayer Request(s) - no more than 120 words please

Within a couple days of receiving your request, we will email your prayer request to our prayer team prayer partners with the subject line "WFJ Prayer Team - Date." For privacy concerns, we will only provide your first name and email address for contact. Any answers to prayer or updates you send will also be posted in our next email update. We reserve the right to condense, edit or refuse to post requests we receive.

C. Advertise - Place Ads in Your Local Paper

Placing ads in your local newspaper, penny-saver, secular and Christian publications are an excellent way to spread the word about our ministry to people needing help in dealing with the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. The following are suggestions for effective ads:

Note: For secular publications, it is best to target the Jehovah's Witness or Latter-day Saint (Mormon) audience individually by themselves rather than to try to appeal to both groups in one ad.

  • For a Secular Publication:

    - Jehovah's Witnesses examine secret facts about the Watchtower, Free, Confidential: WFJ, PO Box 50911, Colorado Springs, CO 80949, USA www.4jehovah.org

    - Latter-day Saints - Is the Mormon Church telling you the whole truth? Free, Confidential Facts: WFJ, PO Box 50911, Colorado Springs, CO 80949, www.4mormon.org

  • For a Christian Publication:

    - Need Help Answering your Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormon friends? Request our Free information packet: Witnesses for Jesus, PO Box 50911, Colorado Springs, CO 80949, www.4witness.org

D. Translation Work - Materials in Foreign Languages

We have had several requests for material in foreign languages. Some of our Jehovah's Witness material has been translated into the Spanish and Russian Languages, but we have nothing else translated into any other language. If you or someone you know would be interested in helping us translate our materials into other languages (especially the Portuguese, German and French languages), please contact us. We also need people who have the ability and the software to type the translated foreign language material into MicroSoft Word documents that we can format back into the original tracts / brochure style of the English documents we place on our website.

E. Graphic Design Artists

We are in need of experienced Graphic Design Artists who would be willing to donate time and resources to enhance the design quality of our material. Our equipment can handle US Letter size documents in MicroSoft products or image files (.gif, .tif, .jpg, .bmp, etc). If you or someone you know would be interested designing covers for our DVD/CD projects, books and brochures, please contact us. Thank you!

F. Ex-JW / Ex-LDS Testimonies for the Website

If you are a former Jehovah's Witness or a former Mormon who would like to share your testimony of coming out of false religion and finding the real Jesus, we would be interested in posting your story on our website for others to be encouraged. All you would need to provide to us is your name, email address and a photo along with your testimony and we will review it for the website. No personal information besides your first name and photo will be posted on the website. All last names and email addresses are kept confidential, unless you join our email ministry team (see application below). When you write your testimony, please include the following information:

Your Testimony Should Include the Following:

  1. Your Religious Background prior to the LDS or JW Religion
  2. What Led You Into the Religion
  3. How Long You were Involved and at What Level
  4. What Led You Out of the Religion – Note: It’s good to include unanswered questions that the leaders of the LDS or JW religion could not answer. Your goal is to provoke thought in the mind of any JW or LDS person reading your story.
  5. How You Found the Real Jesus Christ
  6. A Summary of What Your Walk with Jesus is like on a Day-by-Day Basis now that You are Saved.
  7. Closing Thoughts – Note: You may want to include an evangelistic message for any unsaved person who may read your testimony on the website.

Please try to keep your testimony to no longer than 3 or 4 pages. You may email your testimony to us as a MicroSoft Word document attachment or send plain text in an email. Please contact us to email your testimony to us and include a digital photo as well as the text "Testimony for the Website" in the Subject line of your email. We will review your story and if it is what we're looking for, we will post it on the website along with any edits we deem appropriate. We will run all edits by you for your approval prior to linking your page to the main Ex-JW Story page. Thank you for your participation!

G. Ex-JW / Ex-LDS Email Ministry Volunteers

We are putting together an email network of former Jehovah's Witnesses and former Mormons who are interested in talking to others who have left or are in the process of leaving the group. The purpose of this ministry is to provide a private/confidential environment in which Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons (who are on their way out of the religion) can correspond over email with someone who can relate to what they are going through and who can help answer their questions about God, the Bible, Salvation, etc without putting pressure on them to accept a particular religious belief or to join a religious church. If you are a former Jehovah's Witness or Latter-day Saint (Mormon) who agrees with all of the tenants of our Statement of Faith and who would be interested in volunteering on our email ministry team to provide encouragement, spiritual and emotional support to those on their way out, please contact us through email with the words "JW (or LDS) Email Ministry Team" in the subject line of your email and provide us with the following information:

1. Your First and Last Name and Phone Number and Mailing Address
2. Your Story - Include:

  • Your Religious Background prior to the LDS or JW Religion
  • What Led You Into the Religion
  • How Long You were Involved and at What Level
  • What Led You Out of the Religion
  • How Long You Have Been Out of the Religion
  • How You Found Jesus Christ and How Long You've Known Him
  • A Summary of What your Walk with Jesus Christ is like on a Day-by-Day Basis

3. Your Current Church Affiliation - include the name of your church or fellowship group and what type of church it is - like Baptist, Evangelical Free, Calvary Chapel, non-denominational, etc. **
4. How Long You've Been Involved With This Church or Fellowship Group
5. Your Ministry Role at this Church (Past and Present)

6. References:

  • Your Pastor's Name and Phone Number
  • Name and Phone Number of Someone You've Led to the Lord or Discipled in the Word of God (See 2 Corinthians 3:1-2)
  • Name and Phone Number of someone you have served alongside in ministry

7. Describe your prayer life and personal, spiritual walk with Jesus.

8. List a few passages of Scripture you would share with a Jehovah's Witness or Mormon who is struggling with the concepts of the Trinity and Hell doctrines in the Bible.

9. Provide a brief summary of your spiritual gifts and what role you would like to play in ministering to a former Jehovah's Witness or Mormon through our ministry.

10. A digital photo that we can display on your testimony page from our website. View web pages of our current email ministry team partners. (Note: If you do not have the ability to email a digital photo, you may mail a printed photo to us at: Witnesses for Jesus, Inc, Attn: Email Ministry Team, PO Box 50911 Colorado Springs, CO 80949)

After we have reviewed your email application (answers to the questions above) and spoken with your references, we will contact you and setup a phone interview. If everything checks out, we will place your story on our referral ministry webpage along with your name and email address.

**Note: We do not oversee the personal Christian walks of those serving on our ministry teams. We only require that each person serving with our ministry, agree with our Statement of Faith and be active in his or her own bible-believing congregation or home group. This requirement is so that the members of our team have a support system of spiritual accountability through which they can have fellowship with believers both inside and outside our ministry.

17. Why do you target only Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter-day Saints (Mormons)? Do you have information on other religions besides them?

At this point, our focus is strictly on the Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter-day Saints (Mormons) because this is the area we feel God has lead us to specialize in. Due to the time and experience needed to investigate these religions at the depth required in order to produce quality research at our current level, we feel that if we broaden our focus to other religions (at this point), we wouldn't be able to be as effective in reaching these two primarly religions. This is not to say that at some future point we may not expand our outreach to another religion, but for now, research on Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter-day Saints (Mormons) is all that we offer. However, for your questions on other religions, there are a few ministries that we recommend. See our Website Links page. You might also find the following webpage on our site helpful in explaining why we do what we do:

18. Why do you use other translations in addition to the Authorized 1611 King James Bible?

In certain circles of Christianity, there is a movement that insists that the 1611 version of the King James Bible is the most accurate translation available today. Fueled by the writings of King James Only advocates, such as Gail A. Riplinger and her book, New Age Bible Versions, proponents of this movement often insist that the use of any other translation of the Bible perverts the pure teachings of God’s Word. In response to such claims, we encourage readers who have been influenced by this thinking to examine the other side of this debate as Riplinger's claims and the claims of other KJV only promoters have been thoroughly refuted in books such as James White’s King James Only Controversy and several articles available online. See New Age Bible Versions Refuted by James White, King James Only? by Bob DeWaay, New Age Bible Versions: Truth or Deception? Far from obscuring the Deity of Jesus Christ in newer translations, we have found that in certain cases, the case for the Deity of Jesus Christ comes through clearer in the newer translations than it does in the King James Version. Indeed, when any matter such as this one arises, we do well to heed the advice of Proverbs 18:17: “He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.” For a good overview of various Bible Translations see the Bible Versions article by Buddy Martin.

19. Where do I go on your site to download the free Teacher's Guide and Student Handouts for your seminar DVDs?

If you purchased one of our Jehovah's Witness or Mormon seminar DVDs, you may download the free Teacher's Guide and Student Handouts for the DVD at the following links:

20. I've heard skeptics say there are no eyewitness of Jesus. Is this true?

"I have heard from various atheist and other sources that there are no real witnesses of Jesus. By that, I mean there is no historical evidence from people who met Jesus when he was alive (or supposed to have lived). Apparently the only sources of information concerning him are hearsay documents (e.g, epistles and gospels) written decades after he supposedly died by people who never met him. I want to know if this is true, so I can rebut these claims. As your group is called 'Witnesses for Jesus', can you provide me with any real Witnesses? By that I mean writings or any other evidence from people who actually met Jesus."

The gospels, epistles were written by eyewitnesses of Jesus. They were contemporaries of Jesus’ time and the evidence of their belief in Jesus can be see by the fact that before Jesus rose from the dead, they went into hiding, but once he arose and appeared to them, they no longer hid but courageously preached of His existence, even to the point of dying for their faith. Why would they die for a “lie” or “myth” they made up? The historicity of Jesus has been substantiated to the point that no reputable scholar can deny. No only is the reality of Jesus documented in the gospels and books Christians call “Scripture” but also in the historical writings of Tacitus and Josephus and archeological findings. If the existence of Jesus is a “myth,” what are non-Biblical writers such as Tacitus and Josephus doing writing about Him in their ancient historical documents? 22. Do you have a discussion board for Jehovah's Witness and Mormons to publicly debate your Christian beliefs?

Unfortunately, we have a very small supply of staff and cannot afford the time it takes to run and moderate a public discussion board for Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons who wish to debate our beliefs.  We recommend CARM.ORG’s discussion boards as most of the doctrines and facts covered on our websites have been discussed and debated on their boards at one time or another. You can visit and participate on their public boards at the following links:
