The Mormon View of the Bible Exposed

robThe Book of Mormon says:

2 Nephi 29:3,6,8,10,12:

And because my words shall hiss forth-many of the Gentiles shall say: A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible.

Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?

Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word?

Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.

For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it;

Mormonism teaches that this is a direct prophecy to the validity of the Book of Mormon.

According to the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi chapter 29 was written about the year 550 B.C. At this time in history according to the Old Testament, the scriptures were referred too, as the book of the law or the Law of Moses (SEE Deuteronomy 29:21, Joshua 22:5, 1 Kings 2:3). In the New Testament, the scriptures were referred too, as the law and the prophets (Matthew 5:17, 7:12, Luke 16:16).

Nowhere in the Old or New Testaments is there ever a reference to the scriptures as being called the Bible. In fact, it was not until the years of 390 to 405 A.D. that the books (parchments and letters) of the Old and New Testaments were canonized and published (Jerome’s Latin Bible) into one book referred too as a Bible.

The Book of Mormon was written between the years 600 B.C. and 385 A.D. with the death of the last prophet Moroni. According to the Book of Mormon this statement in 2 Nephi was  written 900 years before the Bible existed.

The Bible says:

          For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (2 Corinthians 11:4)

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  (Revelation 22:18)
