| .:WITNESSES FOR JESUS PRAISE REPORT
SUMMER 2005
Dear
Friends,
In June, I was blessed to participate in an annual
outreach to Mormons. Every year, during the Manti, Utah Pageant
event, thousands gather on the lawn of the temple to witness a reenactment
of Joseph Smith’s First Vision account. As over 150 Christians
distributed tracts and engaged Mormons in one-on-one conversations,
six Mormons made decisions to accept Christ, and many seeds were
planted in others. There were times that the Christian presence
was so strong that one could not walk through the streets in front
of the pageant without hearing Christian conversations with Mormons
and tracts being offered.
I had many fruitful conversations with Mormons on my trip, but
I will highlight just a couple of the best ones. For two hours in
the cafeteria of Brigham Young University, I spoke with Lisa—a
student raised in Mormonism. As we discussed the differences between
our views of God, I was impressed with Lisa’s honesty in admitting
that she didn’t have answers for the verses I was showing
her in support of my view of God. Please pray for her salvation.
The best conversation I had at the pageant was with an older gentleman
who attended the pageant with his wife and granddaughter. Offended
by the “www.JosephLied.com” sign that Rob Sivulka of
www.MormonInfo.org was displaying, this man challenged me to prove
that Joseph Smith lied. After taking him through Smith’s false
prophecies in Doctrine and Covenants, he became defensive and began
asking why I am working to tear down the Mormon Church. “The
Bible warns us at Isaiah 9:15-16 that if we follow a false prophet,
we will be destroyed,” I explained. “If your church
is based upon a false prophet like Smith, you will be destroyed
because your foundation is crumbling.” I went on to share
the gospel with him and his wife by going through our “Are
You Prepared to Meet God?” tract (See http://www.witforjesus.org/mormon/online/tl_apmg.php).
Reading how their good works are nothing but “filthy rags”
of pride (Isaiah 64:6), they became angry and asked me not to show
them anything more. Please pray that the Holy Spirit and God’s
Word will convict them and the others we talked with and bring them
into true repentance.
Traveling
to Bangor, Maine in April, I gave a week of training sessions on
how to share Jesus with Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Many
were encouraged in their faith as parents and kids alike enjoyed
the sessions. (Photo to the Left: Christy using candles to illustrate

In our last update, we requested prayer for Heather, who had been
dating LDS Jacob and considering the Mormon religion. We are happy
to report that Heather followed Jesus over her feelings for Jacob
and she broke off the relationship. This was a very difficult decision
for her. Please pray that God will bless and encourage her for her
commitment to Him!
MINISTRY NEEDS:
God is continuing to provide for our needs through
your financial support, but in recent months, our monthly pledge
support has dropped to 74% of our budget. Although many of you have
been making up the difference through extra gifts, we are still
in need of those who can partner with us on an ongoing monthly basis.
Your financial support as the Lord leads is crucial to our planning
as we move forward in ministry. Thank you!
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- Pray for the Mormons who took tracts and were witnessed to
at the Manti Pageant and for the salvation of BYU student Lisa.
- Ex-JW Lora is seeking to know the truth about Jesus. Pray for
her and for her husband Thomas’ salvation.
- Mary’s walk with Christ and salvation for her family
and her JW friend Jenny.
- Praise God for Heather’s commitment to follow Jesus.
Pray for Jacob’s salvation.
- Christian Sabrina’s JW husband Jared’s salvation
and preservation of the marriage.
- Salvation of Dave’s JW wife Diane and their children
Katia and Daniel.
In His Grace,
