| .:WITNESSES FOR JESUS PRAISE REPORT
FALL 2005
Dear
Friends,
This summer, I’ve been mentoring in counter-cult
ministry two Christian teens. Tim (17 years old) and Joe (15 years
old) have a real heart for their Mormon high school friends. They
have undertaken an in-depth study of Mormonism, and are not only
challenging their friends at school, but Mormons on the Internet
as well. Meeting weekly to discuss various topics pertaining to
Mormonism and counter-cult work, Tim and Joe are teaching a class
on apologetics (the defense of the Christian faith) to peers in
their church youth group. They have participated in our support
group for ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses and have helped represent
our ministry at Focus on the Family’s “Dare to Dig Deeper”
youth apologetics conference in August.
In September, Tim, Joe and I attended services
at a local Mormon Church. I joined them in the Sunday school class
for teens and participated with them in the study of Doctrine and
Covenants (D&C), Section 136. God opened a door for us to be
able to witness to the teacher and students through a false prophecy
stated in the chapter. This revelation was allegedly given to Mormon
Prophet Brigham Young right after the Mormons were driven out of
“Zion” in the state of Missouri. In verse 10, God allegedly
told Young to “remove this people to the place where the Lord
shall locate a stake of Zion.” Then in verse 18, the revelation
claims that God promised the saints that “Zion shall be redeemed
in mine own due time.” I asked the teacher how Brigham Young’s
moving “Zion” to the Salt Lake valley could have “redeemed”
Zion when redemption means to gain back what was lost and “Zion”
had already been established in Missouri. Since D&C 97:19 states
that “…surely Zion cannot fall, neither be moved out
of her place,” I asked how to reconcile this discrepancy.
Neither the teacher nor students had a good answer for us on this
and the teacher promised to look into the subject further. Please
pray God will use this seed of doubt to bring them out of Mormonism.
Looking
back, many of you may remember Dave who left the Watchtower last
year after 27 years of involvement. We are delighted to report that
Dave was baptized as a true Christian believer, July 17, 2005. The
church has really come around and supported him in his faith. Sunday,
September 18,th Dave joined the worship team by playing his clarinet.
Please continue to pray for Dave’s wife Diane and daughter
Katia. They are out of the Watchtower, but not yet ready to embrace
Christ. Also, pray for other opportunities we have to minister to
former Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons through our website
and local support group. Many Christians are using our resources
to reach their loved ones in cults. In this, we are grateful to
you and to our Lord who makes our ministry outreaches possible.
May He be glorified!
MINISTRY NEEDS:
We are thankful for the Lord’s financial
provision through you. Although our monthly pledge commitment support
is still only at 70%, we have been blessed by many unexpected gifts
that are enabling us to maintain our financial commitments. It’s
a step of faith, and God is proving Himself faithful through your
generous support. Thank you!
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- Ex-JW Dave’s Christian growth and salvation for his JW
wife Diane and their children Katia and Daniel.
- Pray for the salvation of Mormons to whom Joe, Tim and I are
witnessing at LDS events, and pray for God’s blessings on
their youth group.
- Ex-JW Lora has turned to atheism, but she is reading Josh McDowell’s
book More than Just a Carpenter. Pray for her salvation.
- Pray for Susette who was raised JW and is seeking truth.
- Pray for ex-Mormon Bev’s LDS family members to come to
Christ.
In His Grace,
