Lee and Kathy’s Trip to Israel

For two weeks this past May, we were fortunate enough to participate in an expertly planned and skillfully hosted Biblical Tour/Study of Israel and the West Bank.

Exclusive to this type of personally tailored Tour, is the unique site access and insight that only a Biblical Archeologist and a Director of Evangelism would have. Without fail, each location visited was clearly placed within its Biblical context and perspective. Both Joel Kramer and Chip Thompson successfully presented the true character and strength of the Bible, even within some of the more commercialized yet authentic sites, without losing the foundational spirit of the Biblical event.

Chip Thompson, from Tri-Grace Ministries, and his family. His wife Jami, his daughter, his son, his 79 year old mother and her sister. Chips mother was amazing! She walked along like she was in her 20s!

Ptolemy II AR Tetradrachm. Ptolemais mint. Diademed head.
Kathy found this coin just to the south east of the Hippodrome (Horse Racing Stadium) within the ancient coastal Mediterranean city of Caesarea Maritima, Israel. This is where Pontius Pilate governed from during the time of Jesus. It is for sure a Copper Coin from the 2nd Greek King of Egypt, too cool.Ptolemy II AR Tetradrachm. Ptolemais mint. Diademed head right

This is now the OLDEST coin in our coin display!

Ptolemy II Philadelphus (Greek: Πτολεμαῖος Φιλάδελφος, Ptolemaîos Philádelphos, 309–246 BC) was the king of Ptolemaic Egypt from 283 BC to 246 BC. He was the son of the founder of the Ptolemaic kingdom Ptolemy I Soter and Berenice, and was educated by Philitas of Cos. He had two half-brothers, Ptolemy Keraunos and Meleager, who both became kings of Macedonia (in 281 BC and 279 BC respectively), and who both died in the Gallic invasion of 280–279 BC.

2014 Holy Land Tour – Lee and Kathy Baker

From the walls of Jerusalem, Jericho, and Bethlehem or at the banks of the Jordan River, the Bible came alive for both the seasoned scholar as well as the average Christian reader on the Tour. Never again will we be able to read the Scriptures without being transported to the very location again. Whereas we once read the Bible in black and white, we have now experienced the Bible in such a way as to hear and see the Bible in Technicolor.

As a former Mormon Bishop and member of that faith for over 32 years, the daily on-site and individually focused Devotionals/Biblical readings provided a unique level of clarification and confirmation that the Bible is without question complete, accurate and trustworthy.

Throughout the our time on this Tour, it was professionally and respectfully demonstrated to us that any Church, who through doctrine – removes, restricts or rewrites the Bible; can preach or practice any number of Biblical deceptions without restraint. Praise be to God for our renewed understanding of the appalling Mormon Article of Faith, which wrongly promotes doubts among its members, that the Bible is not trustworthy. Our ability to share the glorious Bible truths and specifically witness to the Mormon Community has been sharpened, magnified and now absolutely personalized through this experience.

As a former Counter terrorism Instructor and Intelligence Analyst, I felt confident that the Tour’s planning and preparations were well coordinated. Our safety and security throughout Israel and the West Bank were never a concern.

In short, the only other spiritual event in my life that has been eclipsed by this deeply emotional visit to the Holy Land; has been my foundational and personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

Former Mormon Bishop Lee Baker - As a member of the Mormon faith for 32 years, having served honorably in many Leadership positions at the Branch, Ward and Stake level, I forced my own excommunication in 2008 after several painful years of meetings and letters to the highest levels of the Mormon Church concerning questions of doctrine and history.
