Court-Ordered Pre-Trial Hearing Refused to Discuss Reasons for a Dismissal
As many of you know who have been following the Criminal charges brought against former Mormon Bishop Lee Baker by a General Authority of the Mormon Church when Lee was ministering in Indianapolis last Fall, Lee Baker was called into court today, January 26th, 2016 for a court-ordered, Pre-Trial hearing to determine the possibility of dismissing the case due to the Mormon GA not having any evidence for his claims. Unfortunately, no decision was made today. This just came in from Lee Baker:
Thank you so much for all of your heartfelt prayers. I can feel their power and they give me strength to endure much more than I ever could alone.
As a report of today’s Pre-Trial Hearing, although this required hearing was set by the court, it turned out to be what I believe was a court strategy to delay the case without a discussion to dismiss the charges.
Today’s hearing was presided over by a Magistrate Judge who had no authority to make a decision to dismiss the case. So he informed me that the judge over this case will make a decision within two weeks and let us know if it will be dismissed or go to a jury trial the first part of March.
So, No action, no discussion and no decision was made today. The state of Indiana has directed a continuance so we will be back to Indiana again sometime in March.
So, unfortunately, not a single thing happened today, even though this pre-trial hearing was requested by the court.
As we wait on God’s Waiting room… We know that God is in control and we will wait patiently on Him!
We Thank You beyond words for your continued prayer support! You are Awesome Prayer Warrior’s and we thank God for you!
