What another great year at the Mormon Miracle Pageant! It was a wonderful time to bring the truth and light of Jesus.
On the first day I was there, I stood on the sidewalk where people were passing by and I asked individuals if they could answer a quick question that I have concerning the introduction to the Book of Mormon. The introduction to the 1981 edition of The Book of Mormon says, “The Book of Mormon is a volume of Holy Scripture comparable to the Bible. It is a record of God’s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Bible, the fullness of the everlasting gospel.”
This month, the correspondence from our website brought an unusual email from a Mormon gentleman:
“Instead of trying to bring different Christian sects to combat the evil in the world, you serve the devil by criticizing others you truly know nothing about… I believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior of this world! I also know His mission is one of peace, loving one another, praying for your enemies, and banding together as Christians to combat the evil in the world! ALL CONFUSION AND CONTENTION IS ONLY OF THE DEVIL! Your website is filled with contention, not peace and love and filled with disaffected Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses that never truly understood their religions. May God have mercy on your contentious souls, for you know not what you do nor whom you serve!”Continue reading “Responding to Criticism”
Keith and his wife Becky have been personal friends of our ministry for almost 20 years. Keith has an amazing ability make Scripture come alive! Hold onto your pen and paper as you listen to him share his interactions that he has had over the years with Jehovah’s Witnesses. He will also be addressing the topic: THE MEMORIAL. You will be encouraged, challenged, and have tools and tips to use when reaching Jehovah’s Witnesses.
As our ministry has been partnering with ElevateClicks, a PPC management company to obtain and maintain a Google Ad Grant that allows us to advertise free on the Google search system, we have received numerous inquiries concerning our use of their services. The following is a list of the most common questions asked and our response to them:
– How long have you been using Elevate Clicks?
Since Jan/February 2015.
– How well have they fulfilled your expectations in terms of service from your representative?
For the past few months, our ministry has been partnering with Elevate
Clicks, a PPC management company to obtain and maintain the Google Ad Grant that allows us to advertise for free on the Google search system. ElevateClicks focuses on managing Google Adwords accounts for small businesses and Google Grants for nonprofits of all sizes. They are passionate about online advertising, inbound marketing, keeping things simple, clean, and building long term relationships with their client partners.
In the past, we tried to manage an AdWords account ourselves with a financial budget so low that our ads were not able to place in the search-engine ranking lists of Google. But with the help of ElevateClicks and the $10,000 monthly Google Grant (which they have been able to obtain for us) our Ads are outperforming this amazing budget on a daily-level, and we have seen our product sales increase by double to triple what they were before the Google Grant.
We are truly pleased to recommend ElevateClicks and their partnership with the Google Grant program for any non-profit that is looking to advertise with Google AdWords. And we are now looking to take our Google Grant account to the $40,000 Google Grants Pro. Stay tuned as we keep you updated on our progress. Please take a time to visit their website by going to www.elevateclicks.com if you’re interested in their services.
Doug and I attended the 49th annual Mormon Miracle Pageant at Manti Utah during the 18th thru the 27th of June. Over the past few years we have noticed a decline in LDS attendance to the pageant and this year was no exception. Unfortunately, there seemed to be fewer Christian evangelist in attendance this year as well. Although, there were still plenty of Mormons that heard the truth of the Gospel and Jesus in contrast to the deception of Mormon doctrine. Even with the attendance being very low on some nights, we still had a lot of conversations and handed out hundreds of tracts. Continue reading “Challenging Mormons with the Real Gospel”
Trevor is a young man who has a real heart for Mormons. This year we were able to help him join our team with Rob and Doug witnessing at the Manti Utah Pageant.
My experience in Manti, Utah in June of 2015 was spectacular as usual! This was my third year to attend this event. I explored the following two concepts with the people that I spoke with: the concepts of fullness and forgiveness. Christians and Latter-day Saints (LDS) seem to view these concepts through a different lens. Christians believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God which cannot be added to or subtracted from and that it is the fullness of truth. LDS believe that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is correctly translated, as stated in the 8th Article of Faith. They also use the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price, as scripture. Regarding forgiveness, Christians believe that all sins; past, present, and future were all forgiven the moment that Jesus said, “It is finished” on the cross; while LDS disagree.
The Manti Outreach to the Mormon People is the largest known Christian gathering to witness to and pray for the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the world. This two-week event is held in Manti, Utah and is centered on The Mormon Miracle Pageant sponsored by the Mormon Church each June.
As a direct result of your generous support this past year, Kathy and I were able to spend just over two-weeks witnessing to the Mormons and providing Training to over 400 Christians who traveled to Manti from New England, Florida, California and even central England to participate in this outpouring of Love and Compassion to the lost souls of the Mormon Faith.
On this trip we were able to teach a class on how to witness to Mormons at Calvary Chapel SLC for a group of youth that came to visit Russ East of KUTR radio. We were able to witness at the Manti Pageant for 8 nights. We taught a class on how to witness to Mormons at Wasatch Cowboy Church (Pastor Larry McGruder) a small church that is made up of 70% of Ex-Mormons, and we taught a class on how to witness to Mormons at Ephraim Church of the Bible for Tri-Grace Ministries. Todd and Betty Ellis were saved out of the Jehovah’s Witness Watchtower organization in December 1981. Since that time, they have been actively sharing their testimonies and have helped countless Jehovah’s Witnesses leave the Watchtower to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This workbook is a compilation of Bible Study lessons that Todd and Betty developed to disciple Jehovah’s Witnesses out of the Watchtower in Biblical Christianity. On October 4th and 5th, Doug and I attended the 184th LDS Semiannual General Conference in Salt Lake City Utah. The weather was very pleasant, around 70 degrees, making it more suitable for conversations and more comfortable for standing outside the Temple grounds each day.
Doug and I have been attending the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti Utah for a number of years so it is like old home week seeing many of the Christians that have been coming year after year. Besides great fellowship, there is daily worship and witness training at the Ephraim Church of the Bible in the mornings and of course, witnessing to the LDS at the Pageant each night.
In June I visited a church in my area and shared the story of how I joined and left the Watchtower Society. Not everyone there knew my background, so I began by telling them about my excitement in learning the Bible for the first time without mentioning it was through a study with Jehovah’s Witnesses. My goal was to take them along on my journey of subtle deception. As a Bible student, I learned some valid truths but along the way I was also fed lies. After telling the audience about the happiness I experienced in the first few years of finding “the truth,” I let them into some of my personal thoughts as the weight of the Watchtower pressed down on me….
“Week after week, month after month, I kept reading the Bible, attending services, evangelizing… but I just wasn’t feeling God’s love……I’d ask…. why do I feel like I’m going backwards in my faith instead of forward??? I mean, I had accepted the truth… so why was this darkness always hovering over me? Why do I have this hatred building in me? I’m so angry… I’m so judgmental… I’m so sad…. I am in the truth, for I believe and stand on all the things they taught me about Jesus and the good news we’re called to share. James says faith without works is dead and I work! God knows I work! I’m busy in kingdom works! I must have faith then…. I should be happy… they said I’d be happy…. I know who the angel of light and his ministers are now…. it’s Satan and all the churches under his care…the Catholics, the Baptists, the Lutherans, the Evangelicals, those nuts at River’s Harvest… I’m in the truth, those people are being lied to… ha, they think Jesus is God… what a lie!!! I have the truth!!! I need to offer them a free home Bible study and teach them the truth…. I have the truth! Those people in their stupid demon-filled churches are being lied to… if only they would attend meetings with me where we are all taught the truth. We don’t get involved in politics, or celebrate all those pagan holidays, we remain pure…. when we gather for communion only we do it right because we have the truth!!! Those silly people at River’s Harvest will actually eat the bread and drink the wine today to affirm they are the body of Christ! LIE! LIE! LIE! They think they’re all going to heaven… ha! Only those in the new covenant go to heaven and most of us are not invited to that… I know I’m not … when I gather for communion with my congregation we pass the emblems and none of us partake. No one, not a one!! And we do this to the glory of God…. Because we know the truth!!! ….”Continue reading “I accepted another Jesus, a different gospel, and received a different spirit!”
Taking into consideration that we actually have more activity from members interested in witnessing to Mormons than from ex-Mormons themselves, I try to find articles of interest to meet the needs of our most active members. In April, I posted a question from a letter titled “I’M FRUSTRATED! HOW CAN I GET THROUGH TO MORMONS?” which can be found on our website under the heading “FAQ about reaching loved ones.” I copied and pasted the whole letter into the post and invited our Meetup members to respond with this: Okay Meetup members, how would you respond? What could you share with the writer who is looking for a way to talk to their Mormon friend? What would you do?
One member responded with “I think this question is THE defining question when dealing with them. The problems outlined here are verbatim the same problems everyone with a heart for Mormons encounters. I’ll be following this thread closely…….”Continue reading “Equipping Our Meetup Members”
Yes, it was LDS Spring Conference time on April 5th and 6th, and along with Spring Conference came April showers. Fortunately, it was only April sprinkles with mild weather, which didn’t keep the LDS from stopping and talking. Doug, Jeff and I gathered at the corner of South Temple Square and the Plaza Strip so that we could reach out to the LDS that exit the Conference on South Temple. Most of the Christians gather at North Temple and in front of the Conference Center where they can reach out to the majority of the LDS that come to Conference.
Doug and I have been standing at the corner of South Temple and Plaza Strip during Spring and Fall conference for the past 9 years so it is not unusual for people that we have spoken to in the past to stop and talk again. A couple of years ago, I witnessed to two LDS guys, one of them being a LDS photographer/reporter. I spoke about the blasphemy of embracing the idea that God was once a man like us and that we can gain exaltation, becoming Gods ourselves. Every conference since then, this same LDS reporter has stopped to briefly talk and take whatever tracts I happen to be handing out each time. Doug got to talk briefly with an LDS guy from our home town of Winnemucca. He is a physical therapist who Doug had visited for a work injury several years ago. It is amazing to see how God is at work spreading His gospel with these “divine appointments”. Continue reading “Discussing Atheism with Mormons”
Early this year, one of Jehovah’s Witnesses stumbled upon the website for Witnesses Now For Jesus and contacted the moderator, Bob Gray. He had been raised in his parent’s religion as a third generation Witness. Over the years, he questioned the claims of the Watchtower but continued to read his Bible and pray for truth. When he asked Bob “where to go,” Bob replied that John 6:68 does not say “where” but asks to “whom.” This Witness man asked, “you mean go to Jesus?” Like most of us who come out of the Watchtower, it sounded too simple and Bob assured him that it is that simple.
There were a few calls in between and on January 6 this gentleman told Bob that he’d like to discuss the Deity of Christ but didn’t even know how to pray about it. Bob explained that the Spirit helps us when we do not know how to pray and intercedes for us (Romans 8:26). This searching Witness meditated on the Scripture and on January 8 called Bob to tell him that he’d been crying for two days and announced “I’ve come to Jesus!” Immediately he began to tell his friends and was surprised that they “just don’t get it.” He recognized his need to fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ and called one day to say “I need a church!” At this time, Bob and him are studying the Bible together over the phone and he’s been put in touch with some Christian ex-JWs in his own area. 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” (James 4:13-15)
What is the Lord’s will for next year? Will that Mormon friend of yours finally understand what you’ve been sharing with him about Jesus? Will you see the answer to your prayers this year in a relative’s exit from the Watchtower? Will this be the year your ideas for greater coverage in a ministry to the cults finds a place to flourish? Will God raise up more helpers to pray with you, support you and provide resources? What will God do? Continue reading “What Will God Do Next Year?”
ROB AND JEFF WITNESSING TO MORMONS AT THE FALL CONFERENCE 2013
A QUESTION FOR LDS MISSIONARIES
We handed out about 350 business size tracts and a few DVDs October 5th and 6th was the 183rd Semiannual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The opening comments by the LDS leadership stated that the Church membership was growing, not declining but I have been coming to the Semiannual General Conferences for the past 8 years I have noticed a decline in attendance at these General Conferences. The Salt Lake Deseret News posted an article sometime back admitting a decline in the overall membership of the LDS Church. So who says that we are wasting our time evangelizing the LDS people! Our God is way bigger than doctrines of deception and the craftiness of men! Continue reading “A Question for LDS Missionaries”
I love the focus of one member on the Meetup for ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses. She recently incited us to good works through a post she titled, “How to unlock the mind of a JW and set them FREE.” This is what she wrote:
“I had an idea about how any of us former JW’s can help each other to help JW’s out of the org.
Let’s start making a list of questions relating to what’s wrong with the organization. Questions that will help make them THINK about what they are involved with. Nothing to do with Doctrine, just the organization. There are 559 EX-JW’s here. I hope we all can think of at least one question to ask.” Continue reading “How to Unlock the mind of a Jehovah’s Witness and set them FREE”
